Youth, Skill And Teamwork Drive Farnley To Excellent Victory

A very youthful New Farnley 3rd XI, captained superbly by Jack Lonsdale in the absence of Richard Edwards, who was attending a wedding, produced an excellent all-round performance to secure victory against Meanwood 2nd XI.

Firstly, a big thank you to Meanwood for giving up home advantage and helping ensure the fixture went ahead in great spirit.

After being asked to field first, New Farnley’s young side showed outstanding energy and discipline in the field from the very beginning. Lily fielded like a demon on the boundary all afternoon, saving countless runs and lifting the side with her determination and athleticism.

With the ball, Isaak and Bhavya bowled superbly in tandem, building pressure throughout their spells and making scoring extremely difficult for the opposition. Their accuracy and control gave Meanwood very little breathing space and played a huge role in restricting the hosts.

There was also a brilliant moment in the field from Aran, who produced an outstanding catch off his own bowling — a piece of skill that changed the momentum and highlighted the enthusiasm within this young Farnley side.

Chasing the target, New Farnley got off to a confident start and the decision to promote Dan Smith up the order proved inspired. Dan excelled, playing with maturity and composure well beyond his years, anchoring the innings superbly and helping guide Farnley towards victory.

Lonsdale (63) led the side brilliantly throughout the day, with the young team showing great character, teamwork and positivity in every department.

A terrific team performance and a hugely encouraging display from the next generation of New Farnley cricketers.
