Brazil Women’s Team To Tour UK For Tri-Series In August/September 2025

Women’s National teams Jersey, Brazil and Isle Of Man will be competing in a T20 International Tri-Series (with ICC team ranking points) From Sunday 31st August 2025 to Thursday 4th September 2025 at The Barry Jackson Ground. These will be the first ever meeting in T20Is for Brazil Women against both their opponents, which is also their maiden tour of UK.

For Brazil Women, this will be their 3rd overseas tour outside the Americas region having participated in the prestigious Kwibuka Memorial T20I tournament twice in Rwanda in 2022 and 2025. The Cricket Board has set a target to provide continuous exposure for the Women’s team and try to reach the top 30 in the ICC rankings table. Jersey Women, have themselves, been on an upward curve in the last 2-3 years now and will be looking to continue their growth in the European Region. Isle Of Man’s Women’s team will certainly be looking to take part in the pathway tournament for the next edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup and these fixtures will definitely help them gain more exposure against teams who are already part of qualification pathway events.

Ground Update

We’ve had a really good-working party this entire week who have all played their part in making The Barry Jackson Ground look absolutely fantastic. Marshalled by our Chairman John Baldwin, Mark Mason, Jon Needham, Sam Barraclough, Jonny Phillips, Ed Denton, Alex Holt, Max Chaplin, George Hutchison along with myself have done the various jobs: Cut the outfield/square, washed the clubhouse windows and cleaned out the guttering, all the wooden benches and chairs have also been washed down, the car park has been swept along with the Western Terrace, bandstand, marquee, BBQ area, Celebration Square and Memorial Row. Yesterday, we had a wedding reception, a baby shower/family gathering tonight, we’re on course to win the league tomorrow, and, on Sunday, we are hosting the Priestley Cup Final between Pudsey St Lawrence and Townville, 12:00pm Start.

Junior Outdoor Training

Is on tonight from 6:00pm until 7:30pm! It has been decided that to cover the cost of our new equipment and coaches hours, there will be a small fee of £2.00 to pay per attendee each week at training. There will be an assigned parent coming round with a list to check who has attended and to take the £2.00 (if you forget the £2.00, you can bring it to the next training and keep it rolling over). It’s set to be a warm one so while the kids tire themselves out, the adults can sit back and relax with a drink or two.

Pudsey St. Lawrence vs Townville – 17/08/25

New Farnley Cricket Club is the host venue for this Sunday’s Gordon Rigg Garden, Home & Leisure Todmorden Bradford Premier Cricket League Priestley Cup Final between Pudsey St Lawrence Cricket Club and Townville Cricket Club after Undercliffe were removed as the original choice due to their decision not to live stream the game, 12:00pm Start.

It’s £2.00 at the entrance for spectators on foot and £5.00 per car (with ample car parking for 500 vehicles).

Fully licensed inside and outside bars will quench the thirst and the BBQ will have burgers, kebabs, lamb koftas and chicken in flatbreads. Rounded off by fresh strawberries and cream if you’re pushing the boat out.

Should be a cracking final, difficult to call but plenty at stake.

Many thanks to John Fuller at Cricket Yorkshire for the detailed preview.

Lawns Park Primary School

Kai Watson, Sam Barraclough, Ed Denton and Alex Holt had a visit from Lawns Park Primary School on Wednesday and they had a fun-filled morning teaching them the basics of cricket and then finished off with a game. Beforehand, Chairman John Baldwin gave a brief history of the club, Facilities and Communications Co-Ordinator Noel Bullock spoke about what his role entails and Bradford Premier Cricket League award-winning Groundsman from 2021 Mark Mason also had some input explaining what is required to maintain the picturesque outfield. Here are some pictures (we have photo consent for all). Hannah Robertson (Year 5 Teacher) said:” Thank you again for such a lovely morning. The children had nothing but great things to say and many want to join a cricket team now because of the sessions. Thanks again”.

Farnley Fest 25

We are looking for stall holders, entertainers and raffle prizes for Farnley Fest 25. With us having the biggest beer garden in Farnley, we were approached to see if we could help and it was a no-brainer. Noah Butterfield has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and will be undergoing 6 months of intense chemotherapy at the age of 3. Also, on top of this, due to where the tumour was located, he has devastatingly lost his vision and has been registered as severely vision impaired. #FarnleyFest25
