The toss was won by New Farnley U11’s skipper George Smith who put Gomersal into bat. With some tight bowling from Esa Shah (3 overs 2/5) along with many others, Gomersal finished 3 down with a net score of 268. The pick of the batters was Woodhead with 10 from 10 balls (2 fours). New Farnley’s batting innings got off to a flyer when Esa Shah hit 23 runs off 12 balls (5 fours and 1 six). Supported by Hasan Khan, Oli Lee and others, a fantastic penultimate over from Hodson resulted in 3 wickets and a close final over chase to come. However, Maxwell Swallow and Edward Long kept their nerve and batted out the final over, keeping their net score at 276. There was some incredible diving stops and solid wicket keeping too, New Farnley get the first game out of the way with a win.
